“On the leading New Amsterdam Records label from New York…But Bec Plexus is more than the performer of other people's work. Van Dijk completely manipulated the pieces, with permission. As a composer she is familiar with contemporary music, but she mainly listens to alternative pop, from Björk to Dirty Projectors, or 'warm bath music' by a singer-songwriter like Cate Le Bon. And at some point she thought it might make sense to create the music she likes to listen to herself. Sticklip therefore sounds more like a very diverse pop album than a 'classic' CD.”
