Electroacoustic urban pictures. Created from bold, geometric patterns, and intricate orchestral textures fused to post-industrial soundscapes. Daniel Elms' distinctive music elicits total immersion into its intimate, emotive and abstracted commentaries on humanist, social and progressive subjects.

The album Islandia is compiled of five works for chamber orchestra, electric guitar, synthesizers and found sounds. Each of the five works ruminate upon the post-industrial coastal towns and people of North East England. The album was first sketched at the former home of Imogen Holst in Fall 2015 and was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in June 2017.

"...a sound so intoxicatingly comforting we’re compelled to keep breathing it in."
Elizabeth Alker, Broadcaster, BBC Radio 3

“…a composer with a burgeoning reputation both for his electroacoustic urban pictures and his contemporarily-informed explorations of the human condition.”
Hugh Morris, Bach Track
