Without Chasms is the latest multimedia EP from composer and New Amsterdam Records co-founder William Brittelle, released on February 12, 2018 exclusively through the New Amsterdam Records Bandcamp Subscription Series.

The project features music by Brittelle and video/art by deep web artist S/CK F/SH, that premiered at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art in 2016. It was presented by Infinite Palette, a curatorial collective dedicated to the development and presentation of composed electro-acoustic music formed by Brittelle and Daniel Wohl with Liquid Music curator-producer Kate Nordstrum. The Without Chasms EP was mixed and produced by electronic musician and sound artist Michael Hammond of No Lands.

William Brittelle on Without Chasms:

“Without Chasms marks my first electronic release. The EP was inspired by the concept of ‘The Void,’ or nothingness. Specifically, the emotions and disorientation that arises from encountering ‘The Void,’ whether through meditation, "medication", or extreme emotional distress/elation. My own experiences approaching The Void have been marked by a somewhat disconcerting sense of interconnectedness, and inability to differentiate between things, and an overwhelming sense that reality is simply a casual network of abstract energy and emotion - hence the title, Without Chasms.”

William Brittelle and composer/musician Daniel Wohl will also see the world premieres of new works at NYC's Symphony Space this February. The premieres were co-commissioned by Symphony Space and are part of its Fuse Project series. The performances are also part of a residency by Infinite Palette, a curatorial collective dedicated to the development and presentation of composed electro-acoustic music formed by Brittelle and Wohl with Liquid Music curator-producer Kate Nordstrum.

On February 16, Brittelle will see the grand-scale premiere of Spiritual America, a series of electro-acoustic orchestral art songs that explores issues of secular spirituality in American culture. The work will be performed by indie rock duo Wye Oak, who contribute vocals and percussion throughout; the Grammy-nominated and NYC-based orchestra Metropolis Ensemble; and the world-renowned Brooklyn Youth Chorus. The evening will also include Wye Oak performing works from their recent album, Shreik, as well as a never-before-heard new work with Metropolis Ensemble, with new arrangements by Brittelle.

On February 17, Wohl will see the premiere of Angel, a work written for new music collective s t a r g a z e and synth-pop band Poliça. Wohl explores artificial intelligence and the singularity with this quasi-liturgical electro-acoustic song that blends organ-like synths with harsher electronic tones and more traditional chamber music elements. The evening will also feature a reimagining of a minimalist classic by Steve Reich and the New York premiere of  Poliça's and s t a r g a z e's expansive multi-movement work,Music for the Long Emergency.

Both Brittelle's Spiritual America and Wohl's Angel will be released (separately) in album form in early 2019 on New Amsterdam Records.
