Born in Paterson, New Jersey, now Brooklyn based, BENJAMIN LOUIS BRODY has been described as one of the most progressive and multi-faceted musicians in New York City. He’s best known for creating beautiful walls of sound with ambient textures, combining post-rock and modern minimalism to create a dynamic resonance with his listeners.

Most Recently, in 2019, Brody premiered his Double Bass Concerto, Forever Melodies, with long time collaborators, bassist Nick Lenchner and the Chelsea Symphony. It is the finale in a series of works composed for Lenchner, interweaving pre-existing melodies and motifs throughout three movements. As a result, it is imbued with a meta-textual sonic DNA, drawing upon our shared influences in ambient music, meditative sound baths, and deep listening.

Brody’s last record, 'Far Away Music,' was released with UK record label Preserved Sound (2018). The album is derived from Brody’s previous compositions, manipulated and texture-shifted hues from latent orchestral self-origin. Tiny-Mix Tapes described it as “…A space somewhat mournful, sweep and range are vast, no dividing lines, though with a subtle pulse and alterations to its density.”

In 2017, Brody collaborated with drummer Ian Chang (Son Lux, Landlady) supplying samples for the track ‘ASMR’ from Chang’s debut solo album, “Spiritual Leader.” ‘ASMR’ was featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered "...he has a knack for creating other worldly sounds using different effects and techniques”- Ian Chang.

Brody released his debut EP, Flow State, a solo electric guitar project that was featured on WNYC's program New Sounds Listeners’ Poll, and was ranked among the top 10 best releases of 2013. "Fans of music as diverse as Robert Fripp and Steve Reich will find something to like here...Very intricate, minimalist, pattern based guitar music." -John Schaefer, WNYC's New Sounds. Brody has released two additional records under the moniker, FL◊W STATE, ‘Breathe In Breathe Out,’ featuring singer & actress Elvy Yost (ABC's The Catch) and an album of ensemble works, ‘Where the Sky Meets the Earth.’

Beyond his recorded material, Brody has written 8 orchestral works for the Chelsea Symphony. He’s been able to compose for several independent films, ad agencies and has performed on soundtracks including Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans score for the feature film Enemy. He’s also worked for and with composers such as Elliot Goldenthal and Philip Glass.

For 7 years, he was also a founding member of New York City’s leading Hip-Hop Brass Band, PitchBlak Brass Band, doubling on French horn and Guitar. Their 2016 performance with legendary wordsmith Pharoahe Monch, part of Ecstatic Music Festival, was described as "Absolutely Incredible," - SOURCE Magazine.
